Robert Paul Bickling

Robert Paul Bickling of Wye Mills, Maryland, passed away on April 5, 2026, in Easton, Maryland. Born to the late Paul C. Bickling and Dorothy J. Bickling, Robert lived a life defined by dedication to his family, his community, and his country. He was especially proud to have been born in Greensboro, Maryland, a place he held close to his heart and where he spent much of his young and early adult life. He was a proud graduate of North Caroline High School, Class of 1964, where he was an active member of both the football and baseball teams. Shortly after, he began a long and distinguished career at Playtex, later known as Reichhold Chemicals, where he worked from 1964 until his retirement in 2005. Among his many professional accomplishments, Robert was especially proud of his role in helping to develop the nitrile exam glove, a contribution that continues to have lasting impacts. Robert also honorably served in the National Guard from 1965 to 1989, rising to the rank of First Sergeant. His commitment to service extended into his community, where he was an active member of the Greensboro Lions Club, American Legion Post #29, and the Choptank River Yacht Club. He also served the Town of Greensboro with distinction as both a Commissioner and Mayor. A devoted sports fan, Robert passionately supported the Baltimore Ravens, Baltimore Orioles, and the Maryland Terrapins. He also enjoyed NASCAR, especially during the years when Jeff Gordon was racing. Known for his love of cooking, Robert took great pride in making his famous wings, a favorite among family and friends. After retiring, Robert spent time living in the South to be closer to his daughter and son, something that brought him great joy and meant a great deal to him. Above all, he cherished time spent with his family. Robert is survived by his beloved wife of 60 years, Lillie Frase Bickling; his daughter, Jennifer Bickling (Lori) of Roanoke, Virginia; his son, Philip Bickling (Amy) of Wye Mills, Maryland; his granddaughter, Kayleigh Barber; his brother, William “Bees” Bickling (Debbie) of Denton, Maryland; his sister, Bonnie Turlington of Clayton, Delaware; and his nephews, Kyle Bickling, Keith Bickling and Brandon Turlington; and his cherished grand pups Goose and Cami. He will be remembered for his strong work ethic, his commitment to service, and his deep love for his family, his hometown, and his community. A visitation will be held on Friday, April 10, 2026, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM. A service will take place on April 11, 2026, with a one-hour visitation beginning at 10:00 AM and the service starting at 11:00 AM. Interment will follow at Greensboro Cemetery.
