Juan Gonzalez Jr.

Juan Gonzalez, son of the late Juan Gonzalez, Sr. and Blanca Colon Ruiz was born on May 6, 1950 in San Juan, Puerto Rico. He departed this life on Saturday, November 23, 2013 at the Easton Hospital, at the age of 63 years old. Juan received his education in public schools of San Juan, PR and graduated in 1968. Juan came to the US as a migrant worker. He worked one season as a migrant worker before settling in West Chester, PA. He worked in the tobacco fields in Springfield, Mass. After settling there he sent for his wife and daughter and they lived in West Chester for a number of years. From that union he had 2 children. This union ended in a divorce. Juan moved to Wilmington, Delaware and attended trade school in the evening and learned to be a skilled carpenter. He loved working with his hands. He worked a various jobs as a carpenter in VA, DC, and MD. In 1982 Juan met Florence Dobson while driving on the highway. He would nod and smile to her while driving to work. He waited every morning in Wilmington so he could follow her up the highway. He went as far as West Chester, PA and she went on to King of Prussia, PA. In 1998, Juan and Florence married Juan was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle and nephew. He was always willing to help anyone if he could. Juan was a happy-go-lucky guy who lived his life to the fullest. Juan loved to collect movies, antique cars, and in later years, cruised around town in his cleaned machine (Bonneville). Juan also loved to cook and feed anyone who came by. Juan leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Florence Dobson-Gonzalez of Ridgely, MD, one daughter Jeanette Martinez (Cecil), two sons, Ryan Gonzalez (Heather) of Wilmington, Delaware, and Robert El (Desiree) of Henderson, MD. He had twelve grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one great grandnephew he was very close to. Juan also leaves three sisters; Marina, Aida (Twin), and Estella, four uncles, six aunts, all of Puerto Rico. Juan leaves to cherish his memory of seven sister-in-laws Bernice, Janie of Ridgely, Sylvia of Great Falls, MD, Viola, Bernadette, Linda of Wilmington, DE, Martina of Camden, New Jersey, and seven brother in-laws Rodney, Melvin, Richard of Ridgely, MD, Michael, Eugene, Darrin, Henry of Wilmington, DE. A special nephew, brother-Jesus Andino. He leaves a host of cousins, nephews, nieces, and friends, from Puerto Rico, Maryland, New Jersey and Delaware.
