William Chester Hoover

William “Bill” Hoover, 77, of Greensboro, passed away on December 26, 2018. He was born on July 6, 1941 in Baltimore, Maryland, son of Chester F. Hoover and Grace Estelle Derrick Hoover. The family moved to Rehoboth Beach, Delaware around 1950 where he graduated from Rehoboth High School in 1959. He was one of the founding members of "The Road Runners" hot-rod car club. Upon graduation Mr. Hoover served in the United States Army before beginning a career as a mechanic, becoming one of the most highly sought after Harley-Davidson mechanics in the region for over 40 years. Bill was self-employed for many years then later worked for Seaford H-D and Indian Motorcycles. He was a long time active member of ABATE in Maryland and Delaware, as well as the Antique Motorcycle Club. On February 16, 1974, Mr. Hoover married Eva Diane Foy. In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife in March of 2015. Mr. Hoover is survived by sons William B. Hoover of Dover, DE and Robert B. Hoover of LA, sisters Nancy F. Schmidt of Lewes, DE, Catherine H. Wilcutts of Dover, DE and Karen Wiedorfer of, Melbourne FL. He has two grandchildren, Cory and Brittney as well as three great grandchildren. Service will be held at Fleegle and Helfenbein Funeral Home in Greensboro, Maryland on Friday January 4, 2019. Visitation will be from 1:00 - 3:00 with service at 3:00.
