Laura Shores Usilton of Denton lived her life for the Lord and went to be with him on Sunday, November 20, 2016 - she was 98. She was born in Chester, PA on September 1, 1918 and moved to Maryland in 1940. In 1941, she met and later married Norman Usilton in 1945, becoming a stepmother to two boys and later having 3 other children. Through the years she worked at several shirt factories, Latex and at local restaurants. She kept numerous foster children from 1963-1975 and was known to many others as "Mom". Laura enjoyed going to church, reading, crocheting, visiting family and friends and going shopping and to lunch with her daughters. She was a member of the Church of the Nazarene in Denton and was a sunday school teacher and church nursery care provider. She also attended Union United Methodist Church in Burrsville with her daughter. She is survived by a son Thomas Usilton, Sr. and his wife Doris of Denton. Two daughters: Virginia (Betty) Baker of Greensboro and Judy Corkell and her husband Michael of Denton, two daughters in law: Eleanor Usilton of Federalsburg and Lois Usilton of Preston, ten grandchildren and their spouses, thirteen great grandchildren, seven great-great grandchildren, three nieces, two nephews and also longtime friend and relative Marie Dulin of Easton. Mrs Usilton is preceded in death by her husband Norman Usilton (1976), Parents Roland (1965) and Misora (1995) Draper, Sr., one brother Roland Draper, Jr. (2004), 2 stepsons - J. Mervin Usilton (2014) of Preston, and Norman D. Usilton (2016) of Federalsburg as well as great grandson Tommy Usilton, III (2011) and also life long friends Helen Mitchell and Bertha Stafford. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Church of the Nazarene 10660 Greensboro Road Denton, Maryland, Union United Methodist Church in Denton, Maryland or Caroline Nursing and Rehab Center at 520 Kerr Avenue Denton, MD.
