Cynthia Lorraine Thomas
December 4, 1957 - March 11, 2022
Cynthia Phillips Thomas passed away on March 11, 2022. She was 64 years old. She is survived by her loving husband of 17 years, Nicholas Thomas, who doted on her throughout their time together. She is also survived by five siblings and their spouses (Robert Phillips, Wayne Phillips, Jeff Phillips, Diane Jenkins, and Kimberly Dyar), a daughter, Becky Masterson, and two grandchildren: Ray Jenkins IV and Kaitlyn Stinglin. She had many nieces and nephews, as well as several lifelong friends including Anita Rajabzadeh, Lisa Mowery, Michelle Neuwiller, and Nina Taylor. She was employed as a client advocate at Mid-Shore Counsel on Family Violence for many years, a cause that remained dear to her heart throughout her lifetime. She wrote poems and short stories and self-published a book to raise awareness of domestic violence and funds to support victims. Cynthia had many varied interests. She grew an amazing garden filled with colorful blooms and heirloom tomatoes. She was an excellent cook and baker who mastered scones and Greek specialties including spanakopita and baklava from scratch. An avid reader, prolific writer, crossword enthusiast, and lifelong Scrabble player, she loved language. She enjoyed creative pursuits including watercolor painting and cross-stitching. She loved adventure whether traveling to Greek festivals, enjoying local celebrations, going to the beach, or shopping at yard sales. Cynthia enjoyed many pleasures in life including fancy dishes, Irish linens, pearls, fresh peaches, singing along with the Beatles, dogs of any kind, convertibles, and red lipstick. Friends and relatives are welcome to send donations in her memory to the Mid-Shore Counsel on Family Violence or the Caroline County Humane Society, two organizations she supported throughout her life.
