Clarence Louis Kibler
August 27, 1918 - October 9, 2017
Clarence Louis Kibler (Kibby) passed away peacefully early Monday morning in Denton, MD. He was 99. A country boy at heart, he grew up and lived out his retired years beneath the Greensboro sky. In the interim, he traveled the globe, first in the service of his country, then in the company of his beloved and predeceased wife Mary Krock. Together they raised 6 children: Michael who predeceased them, Anne Marie of College Park, MD, George and Debbie Smith of Baltimore, MD, Mimi and Alain Kieny of Parsons, WV, Clare and Anne Tinen of Clearwater FL, and Rob and Margaret Fisher of Cabin John, MD. Kibby was a patriot. As part of the U.S. Army Air Corp he served in WW II, and later, as part of the Air Force he served during the Korean War, and in the Air Force Reserves, retiring as a Lt. Colonel in 1978. In the military and then for NOAA, Kibby was a meteorologist. But his true passion was helping others. He called church bingo and cooked at their crab feasts. He delivered Meals on Wheels. He was president of his local Lions Club, served as Cabinet Secretary, and enjoyed working at the chicken barbecues. He and Mary were fixtures at St Martin's Barn until well into their 90s. He dabbled in woodworking, making furniture, lots of wooden bowls, and framing Mary's water colors. As they aged together, he helped with cooking and household chores. He was a helpmate extraordinaire and for 67 years they were a beautiful team. Kibby was born August 27, 1918 at the family farm on Kibler Road in Greensboro, MD. He was the son of George Kibler and Katherine Hammer. He was predeceased by them as well as his five siblings, Clara, Katherine (Kay), A. George, Bernard (Barney), and Charles.
