Sandra Pritchett Owen

Sandra Pritchett Owen, 74, of Denton, passed away at Compass Hospice in Centreville, MD, on October 28, 2025, surrounded by her family and friends. Born on January 1, 1951, in Danville, VA, to the late Robert and Mae Pritchett, Sandra was a proud graduate of James Blair High School, Class of 1969. She lived most of her life in Williamsburg, VA with a few moves in between to New York City, New York and Kansas City, Missouri before relocating to Denton in 2009 to be close to family. Sandra worked as a medical receptionist at George Washington University, as an executive secretary at the Colonial Williamsburg Inn in Williamsburg and then Assistant to the Editor at the Daily Press in Newport News, VA. Most recently, she worked for Upper Shore Aging, providing case management and serving as a volunteer coordinator. In her free time, Sandra enjoyed shows such as Andy Griffith and Family Feud, spending time with her family, and supporting her grandchildren at their recitals, performances, games, parades, and school events. She loved to be anywhere she could look out onto the water. She was also a professional taste tester of all baked, grilled, or fried foods. Sandra was also an active supporter of His Hope Ministries, supporting her daughter and community members in need. In addition to her parents, Robert Sr. and Mae Ella Pritchett, she was preceded in death by her two brothers, Robert Pritchett Jr. and Dylan Pritchett Sr. Sandra is survived by her daughter, Stefanie Johnson (and her husband, Keith "The Cook") of Denton; two grandchildren, Mackenzie ("The Baker") and Ryleigh Johnson ("The Concoction Maker") of Denton, MD; and her sister, Shirley Pritchett of Newport News, VA. She also leaves behind a loving legacy with her nieces and nephews: Calvin Perry, Ravi Perry, Kamila Pritchett, Robert Pritchett III(Wendy), Daniel Pritchett, Dylan Pritchett Jr., ( Rebecca) and Shannon Morgan (Byron). Also her beloved grand pups, S'mores, and Oakley, who will miss MomMom, also known as their treat supplier. The family will be hosting a celebration of life in January 2026. Once the date and location are set, it will be announced. In lieu of flowers, Sandra's family requests that donations be made in her memory to a cause she held dear—His Hope Ministries, 105 Gay Street, Denton, MD 21629.
