Linda Louise Vaughan

Linda Louise Vaughan (Marsh), 76, of West Hyattsville, Laurel and most recently Denton,Maryland passed away peacefully on August 10, 2023. Linda was born on May 12, 1947 in Grafton, WV to Virginia Louise and F. B. “Gandy” Marsh. At the age of 7, her mother and stepfather, Robert J. Smith, moved the family to the Washington DC area. Within a few years they bought a house just across the DC line in Green Meadows, West Hyattsville, MD. As a teenager, Linda met her soulmate, Raleigh “Rod” Keith Vaughan while working at the M & J Barbecue and it was love at first sight. She and Rod quickly became inseparable and were married on May 4, 1965. They built their lives together in Laurel, Maryland– where they had five children: Keith (1966), Eric (1967), Christine (1968), Lynn (1970) and Melissa (1980). Linda certainly had her heart and hands full while staying at home raising her children until 1985 when she got a job at the Laurel Bowling Alley. Linda’s sassy attitude and playful nature led her to become everyone’s favorite bartender. She even created her very own “Linda Burger” that was so popular with customers that it officially made it on the menu at the bowling alley. After dedicating over 20 years at the bowling alley, she decided to leave to take care of her aging mother full time. If you knew Linda, you knew how important her family was to her. During this time, she also focused on spending lots of quality time and making memories with her grandchildren. One of Linda’s favorite things to do was vacation in Ocean City, MD. She loved nothing more than getting a tan and picking crabs with family and friends. Linda is preceded in death by both of her parents, stepfather, loving husband of 57 years and her son-in-law Kevin Crotts. She is survived by her sister, Beverly “Becky Marsh” and husband Terry DeRosa. Her children: Keith Vaughan (Karen), Eric Vaughan (Gretchen), Christine Wayne Crotts, Lynn Dunlap and Melissa Richards (Deon). Brother-in-law Arden Vaughan (Rhonda) Her grandchildren, Gabi, Shelbi, Kyle, Eric Jr., Zach, Janette, Sheleigh, Sydnie, Christiana, Addison, Olivia and DJ. Her great-grandchildren, George, Lennon, Birdie, Olive, Kai and Shamaya. A private family memorial service and celebration of Life is planned for the fall to honor her and Rod, her husband that died January 10, 2023. They will be together on a beautiful mountain in West Virginia– a peaceful and serene place for them to rest together for eternity.
