Keith Darrell Ashley, Sr.

“I fought a good fight, I have finished my course, and I have kept the faith” 2nd Timothy 4:7 Keith Darrell Ashley Sr., 55 of Goldsboro MD, departed this life on Saturday May 28, 2016 at Easton Memorial Hospital. Keith was born in Easton, Maryland to the late Irvin Wallace Ashley and Anna Luretta Hoxter Ashley on October 30, 1960. He graduated from North Caroline High in 1978. He enjoyed playing the trumpet in the Marching band, Jazz band and the Concert band. He continued his love for music outside of school with a small band and playing the piano at home. Keith enlisted in the United States Air Force and retired after 20 years of service. He later re-enlisted in the Air Force Reserves and worked as a recruiter. It was there he also developed a love for Hapkido martial arts and received a 2nd degree black belt. His love for the military continued as he later worked as a civilian at the Dover Air Force Base until his initial illness. He was united in marriage to Penny Carver on December 23rd, 1997 and from this union, Keith Darrell Ashley Jr. was born. There was nothing Keith wouldn’t do to demonstrate his love for Darrell. Keith enjoyed the outdoors, mowing the his lawn, taking care of his animals, hunting and helping to maintain the cemetery grounds as his father once did. Keith had a heart that needed to give and take care of everyone and everything as was evident by his love for his family and friends. In addition to his parents he was predeceased by his sister Diane Roberson. Keith leaves to cherish his memory, his wife Penny Ashley, Son, Keith Darrell Ashley Jr. (fiancée-Ashley Stitzel) and step-daughter Jennifer Nowottnick. Two sisters, Karen D. Ashley of Georgia and Barbara of California. Two Grandchildren, Dyamond and Jasmine Nowottnick and a special friend Danita Bordley. He also leaves to honor his life, five nephews; Sabir, Samad and Al Najim (Georgia); Michael and Keith (California) and Stanley Jr. (Maryland). Two nieces, Maryam (Ecuador), Alisha (Virginia), a special niece Ciera (Washington, DC), two special cousins, Sharon Crossling and Wayne Wiggins. He also leaves four Aunts, Betty Murray, Marian Wilson (Isaac), Jedina Hutchins (Ronald), Doris Norwood (Willie); a great Aunt Callie Hoxter and a special Uncle LaMont E. Cooke and a host of cousins, extended family and friends. A funeral service for Keith will be held on Friday, June 3, 2016 at 11AM in the Fleegle & Helfenbein Funeral Home, Greensboro, Maryland. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in the Union Memorial Cemetery, Goldsboro.
